What makes a puja “traditional”?

  • Ekchala pratima — Durga and her children under a single arched frame, the classic Bengali form.
  • Daaker saaj — white shola-pith ornaments, once shipped “by post” (daak) from Kolkata.
  • Chalchitra — the painted arch behind the idol showing scenes from the Puranas.
  • Dhak and kansor at aarti, with dhunuchi dance in the evenings.
